MAMA is a horn-powered band out of Asheville, NC. The band is built around Melissa McKinney’s raw, deep voice and original lyrics, four-part harmonies, a killer horn section, and a guitar & keys player who will rip your soul out of your chest. 

MAMA won the MerleFest Band Competition in 2025 and went on to take 2nd Place at the 2026 International Blues Challenge in Memphis,TN. 

MAMA is blues, soul, funky roots & rock n roll that will bring you Joy;  Big, loud, sweaty, get out of your seat and throw your shoe, Joy. Their debut album is slated for release in early 2027.
